About

The Financial Student is for those teens and young adults whose high school never offered a personal finance class. You took the math classes, the English courses, and sat through science lectures. Hell, you even took a foreign language you’ll never use. But personal finance slipped through the cracks.

Don’t worry, The Financial Student is here.

Designed to be a resource that teaches you the basics of personal finance, TFS is a one stop shop for financial literacy. Here, you’ll find ways to prevent debt, save money, and fund investments.

My name is Ryan. I’m a senior in high school living in a semi-rural town located in southwest Ohio. Growing up, I saw my parents and other adults make some good choices with money and I saw some bad ones. Later, I started reading a lot of personal finance blogs. These were primarily written by “old” people–those in their late 20s to mid 30s.

I learned a ton from them, but I realized that a lot of young people probably wouldn’t stick around on a blog with a post titled “20 Ways to Save on daycare. So, I’ve started this blog to help an even younger generation avoid many financial pitfalls to begin with. I believe that by starting to manage money now, you can build a financially secure future.
