About

The previous version of this page flat out sucked. It was serious and I hate people/about pages that take themselves too seriously. Consider this take 2 of my introduction.

Before we get this started, I should mention that I have no finance credentials. I’m majoring in finance, but that doesn’t really mean anything until I actually receive a degree. However, I am an 18 year old with a $1,000 emergency fund, Roth IRA (poorly funded, but it exists!), and 2 credit cards with a relatively high limit (paid off every month). So I’ve done some things right.

On a personal note, my name’s Ryan Ayres and I’m just like your average college freshmanwho knows his net worth. I’ve always been interested in money – how to get it, how to use it, etc. – I remember wanting to invest when I was in middle school, but not having a clue in hell how to do it. I also had no money, so that was a problem. Then in high school, I stumbled across some other personal finance blogs and after reading for a few years, decided I had something to contribute and started the blog you’re reading. I’ve since graduated HS and I’m currently attending school near Columbus, OH.

I look like this (without the blender…most of the time):

Besides finance…

I ran cross country for 6 years (2 in middle school and then all of HS) plus track for something like 4 years. I’ve never been the jock or athletic type, but running clicked and I’ll probably never stop.

Nothing offends me. I think I laughed at a dead baby joke once. Oops. South Park is one of the funniest television shows in existence, and also one of the best written. I swear a lot. There’s a decent probability I’ll write “That’s what she said!” at some point.

What The Financial Student Is About…

When I started, I legit thought that this blog was going to be filled with serious finance information. I was wrong. I’ve realized over the past few months that serious is boring. Few people like serious. It’s not even my style, so idk what I was thinking. I’ve since started to write stuff that (hopefully) won’t put you to sleep.

You can expect…

Posts that deal primarily with the way I handle my money or interesting things other people do with theirs. I’m also a sucker for funny Youtube videos, so send those my way if you find some good ones! Bonus points if they’re money related.

If you’d like to know any more, ask away in the comments. I’ll tell ya everything you want to know and some you didn’t! If you’d like to, you can go ahead and subscribe to my blog so you never miss the awesome or follow me on Twitter.
