I finally finished writing thank you notes to all of the relatives and friends that gave me cards and gifts for graduation. Now, it officially feels like summer is here and the only responsibility I have is remembering to relax with friends. And work 40 hours a week…
Now on to some of my favorite personal finance articles from the past week or so.
8 Warning Signs You May Have Too Much Debt is a great list that might be a wakeup call for some people. Personally, the only debts I consider acceptable are mortgages and student loans. And even then you have to be careful not to borrow too much.
Advantages of Using A Credit Card Over A Debit Card sums up my feelings almost perfectly. I really wish I would be approved for a credit card so I didn’t have to carry around my debit card much. I just don’t like the thought of someone stealing my wallet and then boom – my checking account is drained.
Essential Insurance After College is advice I won’t need to follow for a few more years, but it’ll come in handy when I do. Do not think for a second that you don’t need health insurance because you are young. Do not be one of those drivers who think they can “get away” without insurance. If you can’t afford car insurance, you can’t afford to drive.
When You Save Are You Really Saving presents an interesting idea: every time you go shopping and “save” money by buying on “sale”, take that money and actually save it in a savings account. Groundbreaking, I know, but it’s still a really good idea.
